What would you do if your friend's abusive husband doubled the life insurance on her?
He is crazy. He's going to make it seem like an accident.
She needs to leave and get far away.
He is controlling, abusive, obsessed. He is really sick.
I'm not sure how she found out about the life insurance, but she's just not safe there.
I truly believe that he would kill her before letting her get a divorce.
He's all about how something looks. He has no substance.

Seriously... WHY is she still there? Tell her to get the heck out!!! If she has no where to go, there are shelters and such that will take good care of her.
That is awful!!! I don't understand why someone chooses to remain in that environment. What is she gaining by staying???? (shaking my head)
Abuse is insidious and it happens to even the smartest of people. The choices that victims of abuse make often seem beyond comprehension to those that have never been abused. One of the most vile, yet intentional outcomes of both emotional and physical abuse is that it leaves the victim wondering if he/she is the one that's crazy or if he/she is the one with the problem. There are many psychology terms for what abusers do: gaslighting, negating, etc., but abusers methodically work over time to strip the victim of her self esteem and overall sense of worth. It's sneaky, it's stealthy, and it robs the victim in so many ways. Your friend needs counseling. But, what you can do, Mary, is love your friend. Love her without judgement. If she is like other victims, she's judging herself and beating herself up enough. Remind her of how beautiful, intelligent, strong, and capable she is. Remind her of what a good mother she is and how badly her child/children need HER. Remind her of how she uniquely contributes to her family, friends, and work place. She needs to get out, but before she can, she needs to see value in herself and believe that she's worth fighting for. Just love her...
